E+H CM14 Buying Guide: Sensors, Lead Time and Replacement

Buying Liquiline CM14: Specify the Measuring Point, Not Just the Transmitter
When sourcing an Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM14 for a water-treatment skid, utility panel or replacement project, the first question should be which sensor and measurement the installation needs. A series name alone is not a complete purchase specification. Confirm the full order code and compatible sensor before comparing offers.
Series: Liquiline CM14
Product type: single-channel panel transmitter for liquid analysis
Priority checks: parameter-specific input, sensor compatibility, panel fit, electrical integration and complete delivery scope.
Understand What CM14 Does
The manufacturer describes CM14 as a Memosens-based transmitter for a standard measuring point. Depending on the ordered version, it supports pH/ORP, conductivity or dissolved-oxygen measurement. It is a single-channel instrument: listing several supported parameters does not mean one unit measures them all simultaneously.
Published family outputs are two 0/4–20 mA outputs and two relays. The product is intended for non-hazardous-area applications. Its stated protection differs between the front and body: front IP65 / NEMA 4X, body IP20. This is a panel device, not a transmitter that can simply be left exposed in a wet field location.
Confirm the exact sensor, firmware compatibility and ordered input version using current technical documents. Do not assume every Memosens sensor is supported, or that an existing analog electrode connects directly. A current-output specification also does not establish support for a requested digital control-system protocol.
Four Checks That Make Quotations Comparable
- Parameter and sensor: identify the required measurement, operating range, sensor model, cable and intended process conditions. Verify that the selected input version supports that sensor.
- Panel installation: compare the installation drawing with the existing cut-out, panel thickness, rear clearance, terminal access and enclosure conditions. Housing dimensions are not the same as cut-out dimensions.
- Electrical requirements: confirm the ordered power supply, analog-output assignment, receiving-system load and relay duty against the exact manuals and circuit requirements.
- Supply scope: list transmitter, sensor, cable, mounting kit, calibration materials and documentation separately. Do not presume that a transmitter quotation includes a complete measuring point.
Plan Lead Time Around a Complete Measuring Point
Freeze the configuration before accepting a date. Provide quantity, full code where available, parameter, supply voltage, sensor and accessory requirements. Ask suppliers to state deviations explicitly rather than describe a different unit as equivalent without explanation.
Distinguish availability from allocation. Ask whether the offered configuration is reserved stock or factory supply, and request a written dispatch commitment with its outstanding conditions. Prices, stock and lead times require current confirmation; no fixed availability is claimed here.
Track the last missing item. A transmitter arriving before its compatible sensor or cable does not make the loop ready. Coordinate all items with transport, receiving inspection, panel work and commissioning. Reconfirm delivery when the configuration or document scope changes.
Replacing an Old or Discontinued Analyzer Transmitter
Confirm the installed product's lifecycle status with the manufacturer before choosing repair, like-for-like supply or an upgrade. Age alone does not establish discontinuation. Collect the nameplate, full code, sensor identification, wiring diagram, panel drawing, calibration records and output/alarm settings.
- Check the sensor architecture: moving from an analog system to Memosens may require a different sensor and cable, not just a new panel transmitter.
- Compare the mechanical and electrical interfaces: cut-out, mounting, power, output scaling and relay requirements must fit the site or have an approved modification plan.
- Review required functions: a basic single-channel transmitter is not automatically a replacement for a multi-channel, fieldbus or advanced-control instrument.
- Define acceptance: use the appropriate parameter-specific calibration procedure, then verify the displayed value, temperature assignment where applicable, analog scaling and alarm behavior against the control-system requirements.
Include compatible sensors, cables, panel changes, calibration and commissioning when assessing an alternative.
Send a Configuration-Based CM14 Inquiry
Provide CM14, quantity, destination and target date, together with the measuring parameter, existing sensor model, required power supply, output requirements and panel details. If the full order code is not available, send a clear nameplate photo so the configuration can be identified before an offer is finalized.
